I hope that it may be that the revised Vacating scheme contains concessions to the Vernice which will not benefit officers like myself who is nearing the end of his long Service, and who must rely on his pension alone to support himself and his family in England to meet the increased cost of living.
I hope that this appeal may be considered favourably so that I may be safeguarded from having to accept on retirement a lower pensionable pay than an officer who, whilst on Service, drew my own rate of pensionable (£670) but who retired before the revision.
Messrs Alfred Hack & Co., have advised me that the SS "Terresias", on which I am booked to return to Hong Kong, will now leave on 11th January. I would be glad if I could be conveniently informed of Viscount Milners decision before my departure.
